Applying Rational Envelope curves for skinning purposes

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2021, Volume 22, Issue 2,   Pages 141-286 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900377

Abstract: Special curves in the Minkowski space such as Minkowski Pythagorean hodograph curves play an important role in computer-aided geometric design, and their usages are thoroughly studied in recent years. Bizzarri et al. (2016) introduced the class of Rational (RE) curves, and an method for Hermite data was presented, where the resulting RE curve yielded a rational boundary for the represented domain. We now propose a new application area for RE curves: of a discrete set of input s. We show that if we do not choose the Hermite data correctly for , then the resulting RE curves are not suitable for . We introduce a novel approach so that the obtained curves touch each at previously defined points of contact. Thus, we overcome those problematic scenarios in which the location of touching points would not be appropriate for purposes. A significant advantage of our proposed method lies in the efficiency of trimming offsets of boundaries, which is highly beneficial in computer numerical control machining.

Paper evolution graph: multi-view structural retrieval for academic literature None

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2019, Volume 20, Issue 2,   Pages 187-205 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1700105

Abstract:

Academic literature retrieval concerns about the selection of papers that are most likely to match a user’s information needs. Most of the retrieval systems are limited to list-output models, in which the retrieval results are isolated from each other. In this paper, we aim to uncover the relationships between the retrieval results and propose a method to build structural retrieval results for academic literature, which we call a paper evolution graph (PEG). The PEG describes the evolution of diverse aspects of input queries through several evolution chains of papers. By using the author, citation, and content information, PEGs can uncover various underlying relationships among the papers and present the evolution of articles from multiple viewpoints. Our system supports three types of input queries: keyword query, single-paper query, and two-paper query. The construction of a PEG consists mainly of three steps. First, the papers are soft-clustered into communities via metagraph factorization, during which the topic distribution of each paper is obtained. Second, topically cohesive evolution chains are extracted from the communities that are relevant to the query. Each chain focuses on one aspect of the query. Finally, the extracted chains are combined to generate a PEG, which fully covers all the topics of the query. Experimental results on a real-world dataset demonstrate that the proposed method can construct meaningful PEGs.

Extended stochastic resonance (SR) and its applications in weak mechanical signal processing

Niaoqing HU, Min CHEN, Guojun QIN, Lurui XIA, Zhongyin PAN, Zhanhui FENG,

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2009, Volume 4, Issue 4,   Pages 450-461 doi: 10.1007/s11465-009-0072-3

Abstract: To catch symptoms of machine failure as early as possible, one of the most important strategies is to apply more progressive techniques during signal processing. This paper presents a method based on stochastic resonance (SR) to detect weak fault signal. First, a discrete model of a bistable system that can demonstrate SR is researched, and the stability condition for controlling the selection of model parameters of the discrete model and guarantee the solving convergence are established. Then, the frequency range of the weak signals that the SR model can detect is extended through a type of normalized scale transformation. Finally, the method is applied to extract the weak characteristic component from heavy noise to indicate the little crack fault in a bearing outer circle.

Coherence analysis and Laplacian energy of recursive trees with controlled initial states Research Articles

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2020, Volume 21, Issue 6,   Pages 809-962 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1900133

Abstract: We study the of a family of recursive trees with novel features that include the initial states controlled by a parameter. The problem in a linear system with additive noises is characterized as , which is defined by a Laplacian spectrum. Based on the structures of our recursive treelike model, we obtain the recursive relationships for Laplacian eigenvalues in two successive steps and further derive the exact solutions of first- and second-order coherences, which are calculated by the sum and square sum of the reciprocal of all nonzero Laplacian eigenvalues. For a large network size , the scalings of the first- and second-order coherences are ln and $, respectively. The smaller the number of initial nodes, the better the bears. Finally, we numerically investigate the relationship between and , showing that the first- and second-order coherences increase with the increase of at approximately exponential and linear rates, respectively.

A subband excitation substitute based scheme for narrowband speech watermarking Article

Wei LIU, Ai-qun HU

Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering 2017, Volume 18, Issue 5,   Pages 627-643 doi: 10.1631/FITEE.1601503

Abstract: We propose a new narrowband speech watermarking scheme by replacing part of the speech with a scaled and spectrally shaped hidden signal. Theoretically, it is proved that if a small amount of host speech is modified, then not only an ideal channel model for hidden communication can be established, but also high imperceptibility and good intelligibility can be achieved. Furthermore, a practical system implementation is proposed. At the embedder, the power normalization criterion is first imposed on a passband watermark signal by forcing its power level to be the same as the original passband excitation of the cover speech, and a synthesis filter is then used to spectrally shape the scaled watermark signal. At the extractor, a bandpass filter is first used to get rid of the out-of-band signal, and an analysis filter is then employed to compensate for the distortion introduced by the synthesis filter. Experimental results show that the data rate is as high as 400 bits/s with better bandwidth efficiency, and good imperceptibility is achieved. Moreover, this method is robust against various attacks existing in real applications.

Abstract:

Pulmonary artery pressure is an important parameter for clinical diagnosis and physiological research. It used to be measured by the traditional invasive method, cardiac catheterization. A non-invasive method based on audio pulsed-wave Doppler signal and ECG is presented and the noninvasive evaluation system is developed. The key techniques, animal experiment and clinical probation are described in this paper. The key techniques include: wavelet de-noising, new percentile method as well as locating characteristic point with wavelet. According to the data obtained from animal experiments of 9 dogs and 60 cases, the relativity with cardiac catheterization exceeds 80% .
